Tulsa County Investigators Arrest Man For Sexual Misconduct Complaints

Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man who they said was messaging an undercover detective who he believed was a minor, asking for sex.

Aaron Hernandez was in the process of becoming a teacher at Tulsa Public Schools, but instead he will face criminal charges. Deputies said Hernandez started messaging an undercover detective on July 22, thinking he was chatting with a 14-year-old girl.

Sgt. Mike Moore with the Tulsa County Sheriffs Office said, “last Friday we tried to set up a meeting with him to take him into custody. Something on his end fell through, so we set it up for this morning.”

Deputies said Hernandez sent several inappropriate messages, nude pictures and a video of himself using the apps Snapchat and Whisper.

“He did in the exchanges of messages on the cell phone, back and forth that he was employed as a teacher with Tulsa Public Schools” said Sgt. Moore

TPS released a statement that said,“while Hernandez completed the required steps in the hiring process he was never officially employed by TPS”.

Sgt. Moore said he’s glad they were able to arrest Hernandez before he started working at a school.

“Obviously you can see from July 22 to today it doesn’t take very long to develop enough evidence to make on open arrest on the individual. That’s one of the things we feel good about, is we were able to get him before he got to an environment where there would be kids around,” said Sgt. Moore

TPS said the district rescinded its conditional employment offer to Hernandez.
