Lights On For New Neon Sign Display On Historic Route 66

Mayor G.T. Bynum and other Tulsa city leaders hosted a lighting ceremony for the new neon displays on Route 66.

The display, located near the 11th Street Bridge, is part of the city’s plan to attract more visitors along the historic highway.

“The more things we have like this in Tulsa to convince people Tulsa’s worth stopping in, the more likely they’re going to stay. You know, that’s motels, restaurants,” Rhys Martin, President of the Oklahoma Route 66 Association said.

The 20-foot-tall neon signs are replicas of actual signs at past motels along Route 66 in Tulsa.
