Tulsa's Gathering Place will return to hosting programs for its visitors after putting those events on hold because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The park’s Executive Director said most visitors have done a good job of following CDC guidelines, so they figured it was time to take that next step.

Park leaders said they have a lot of programs already planned, including events for Halloween and Christmas.

These events typically have large crowds; but Executive Director Tony Moore said because of COVID-19, the programs will be situated along the park’s pathways and allow for more physical distancing.

"It's programming that's done in a safe manner, that you're not confined to being in a crowded space, you're social distanced and spaced in the safety of your car or along pathways where you can travel. So we had to get creative in how we repositioned our programming," Moore said.

The first event will be called 9180s Night, which will be a drive-in music program with food trucks.

It starts at 6:00 p.m. Friday.
