Stillwater public schools has decided to send students back to in-person learning even as many parents are protesting the decision.

Stillwater public schools voted Thursday night for students to return to learn in-person on an adjusted schedule, but with that vote came fear among some parents.

Students will head to school on September 28, on an A/B alternating schedule. The district said they will try this for four weeks and then reevaluate the district's needs.

Parents could be found protesting outside of the SPS board meeting Thursday night. Many parents made it clear that they did not feel comfortable with the decision being made as the county still has such a high number of positive COVID-19 cases.

The district said their decision was based on polls of parent and teacher input.

Starting Monday the district will be preparing for the return by locking down meal plans, transportation needs, and more.

Specific information is expected to come to parents early next week.
