Firefighters Investigating Broken Arrow Motel Fire

Firefighters responded to the scene of a fire at a motel near North Elm Place and the Broken Arrow Expressway on Wednesday morning.

Battalion Chief, Jeremy Roberts says the call came in around 5:00 Wednesday morning with the fire was in a room on the second floor.

Roberts says the motel was evacuated when the fire alarms went off and that the people inside the room were able to make it out. Many of the windows on the second and third floors of the motel were opened to let the smoke out and crews had to restore the sprinkler system before residents could go back inside.

“We don’t respond to a lot of hotel fires, fortunately, it’s not something we get every day so it certainly is a high response for us but the fire remained small fortunately and it was easily handled by the crews who were dispatched.” said Roberts.

It is currently unclear what started the fire. No injuries have been reported.
