The City of Tulsa will recognize Circle Cinema for its role in the 1983 movie, “The Outsiders.”
Warner Brothers is releasing 4K Ultra HD and Digital versions of The Outsiders in November.
The restored version shows 20 minutes of new footage, including a scene shot at Circle Cinema with the main character PonyBoy Curtis.
Circle Cinema is giving a few advanced screenings ahead of the November release.
The first is on Sunday, September 26, which will kick off with a plaque dedication ceremony recognizing Circle Cinema as a filming location in The Outsiders.
Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum and Danny Boy O'Connor, who owns and operates the Outsiders House Museum in Tulsa, will both speak.
Sunday's screening is sold out, but an encore screening is set for September 29.
The encore will include a pre-film Greasers’ gathering themed reception beginning at 5:30 p.m., an exclusive ‘Stay Gold’ branded journal, a special introduction by Danny Boy O’Connor and a new short film about The Outsiders House Museum. It will also feature a playback of a post-film Q&A with special guest librarian Jo Ellen Misakian recorded from the Sunday, September 26 screening
