Tulsa Police: More January Homicides This Year Than The Past Eight Years

Tulsa Police said one of their latest homicide suspects happened to be arrested by Sapulpa police on an unrelated gun charge, just hours after the shooting.

Johnny Clark will now face murder charges too, after a shooting over the weekend.

This weekend's two homicides brought the total number for January higher than it has been in several years.

Tulsa Police said there were nine homicides in the city this month.

Tulsa Police records show that is more than any other January in the past eight years.

"This January has just been extremely busy with a lot of, there's no way of putting, this has been a tragic January,” Lt. Brandon Watkins said. “There's a lot of people who should be walking around right now, who you know, were murdered."

Clark is the latest suspect to face a murder charge, after police said he shot and killed Camron Roesner at the Parkview Terrace Apartments Saturday night.

Watkins said Roesner was in his bedroom in one of the apartments and woke up to find Clark going through his belongings. There was an altercation and ultimately, Roesner was shot.

Police said a teenaged girl also lived in the apartment and she was shot at, then Clark left the scene.

Watkins said Clark was arrested by Sapulpa Police hours later in the Town West area for having a gun as a felon and was booked into the Tulsa County Jail.

Clark will also face charges for First Degree Murder, first degree burglary and shooting with intent to kill, according to Police.

Watkins said Clark and Roesner were in some sort of altercation earlier in the day too.

"From what we hear from the residents out there, he was walking around spoiling for a fight,” Watkins said.

A few hours later, TPD was at another scene near 46th Street North and Peoria. Police said there was a shootout between three people and Isaiah Jones died.

"We have a person that we're sitting on and expect charges to be filed but it's gonna have to go federal. I believe one of the people is Native American so we are working with the feds right now,” Watkins said.

Watkins said of all nine homicides, police are still looking for Dillon Wilson, who is charged with first-degree murder in federal court, accused of shooting and killing Jamitric Landrum.

Watkins said they are also still investigating Brad Hale's death from January 22nd, calling his death the only "unsolved" murder from January.

Tulsa Police said one of the nine homicides is an OHP trooper-involved shooting, which at last check, the Tulsa County DA's office is still investigating.
