"I Feel Like I'm Living In A Horror Movie:" Family Of Man Killed In Axe Attack Speaks Out

The family of a man who was killed after being hit in the head with an axe is in shock. They can’t understand why someone would do something so violent to someone they didn’t even know.

Angelia Gale, the aunt of 22-year-old Jimmy Patterson, said he just moved to Tulsa from New York earlier this year. He would often come over to eat and play Pokemon with his cousins.

“He was sweet, he was kind, he had manners,” said Gale. “I feel like I’m living in a horror movie.”

Gale said Patterson had just turned 22-years-old when he was attacked with an axe by someone he didn’t know. After spending days in the hospital, Patterson died of his injuries.

Video of the murder is circulating on social media and the family said that is causing them even more pain.

Gale said Jimmy was an organ donor, and they’re trying to find comfort in knowing his life will live on through others.

Tulsa Police arrested Israel Trejo for the attack. Gale said she’s glad he is in jail, but she’ll never understand why he did something so violent to someone so innocent.

“He didn’t deserve this,” said Gale. “Nobody deserves to go in such a violent act like that.”

The family has set up a GoFundMe to raise money for funeral expenses. It can be found at by clicking here.
