Non-Profit Helping Girls With Free Prom Dresses And More

The 'Phoenix Rising Alternative School Foundation' is making sure girls have a fancy dress, shoes and accessories they need for their big night.

"She should feel like herself and beautiful," said Angel Smith, Phoenix Rising Senior.

The Prom Project is making sure the cost of the big night doesn't break the bank or prevent girls from going to the prom.

"Some people feel like if they cannot spend that much money they shouldn't go or won't feel as beautiful right. We're letting them know it's more than the dress," said Obum Ukabam, Prom Project Event Organizer.

Angel Smith said she found her dream dress last year and is back again to pick out another one as a senior.

"I wasn't gonna go to prom and then I was like why not? Cause I'd never been to prom before and this was my first prom so I was like Okay. I went looking for a prom dress and I found this beautiful red dress and I was like that's the one," said Angel Smith, Phoenix Rising Senior.

Several organizations work together to provide free dresses, accessories, shoes, and makeup for more than 100 girls.

For those who haven't picked out that perfect prom dress yet, they can still contact Phonenix Rising Alternative School Foundation.

Many of the dresses have only been worn once, and some have never even left the hanger.

"All the smiles and their eyes just lighting up, that's my reason. That makes the sleepless nights worth it for me," said Obum Ukabam, Prom Project Event Organizer.
