TULSA, Okla. - Storm Chances hang around on Friday morning.

Here are the details from News On 6 Meteorologist Alan Crone:

Thunderstorms are likely at times on Friday before pleasant weather arrives later on Friday night and into the weekend for most of the state. Highs will range from the upper 60s and lower 70s north to upper 70s near south. South winds ahead of the front will change to north winds post-frontal at 15 to 25 mph later this afternoon.

A complex of storms will move east on Friday morning and during the early morning hours. A strong cold front will move from southern Kansas into northern OK midday and progress southward by early afternoon. Additional scattered storms will be likely near and ahead of this boundary. A few strong storms will remain possible this morning, especially with any discrete cells developing ahead of the decaying complex of storms. There will also be a chance for some gusty winds and heavy rainfall threats as the complex moves eastward through the morning hours. The cold front will arrive late morning across far southern Kansas and pass over the metro around 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. It’s this window through the early evening hours that provides the higher chance of strong and severe storms, especially near and southeast of the advancing front across east-central to southeastern sections of the state. The main threat for severe weather includes large hail and damaging winds. Any discrete supercell storm would have at least a low chance of rotating and therefore the threat of a tornado or two will remain with this system this afternoon.

Much drier air filters in behind the front later on Friday night and brings wonderful weekend weather for most of the region with morning lows in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Daytime highs will be in the lower 70s Saturday and mid to upper 70s Sunday. A series of weak upper-level disturbances will arrive later this weekend into next week. A few clouds will be likely Sunday with storms developing across northwestern OK Sunday evening. These are expected to remain west of our area. Monday through most of next week, scattered storms will remain possible with a few of these weak waves that move across the state. The stronger upper air flow will remain well north of the region keeping major storm systems, at least initially away from the state.

Thanks for reading the Friday morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day!

Alan Crone
