Actress Who Played Pippi Longstocking In 1988 Film Now Calls Oklahoma Home

The child star who played Pippi Longstocking in the 1988 film now calls Oklahoma home, and she's gearing up for several big events here in Green Country.

Actress Tami Erin was on the Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch with her boyfriend, Oklahoma native and photographer, Tommy Parker.

Tami's from Illinois but spent a good portion of her life in LA. What brought her to Oklahoma?

"So basically, I wrote a movie script years and years ago, and we became friends through that movie script I wrote. And for 15 years, we just kept a really tight friendship. I think about six, seven years ago, I was in Florida working on a project. And I say, you know, we're both single at this time, because I'm divorced and all that. So, you know, we're just gonna finally make this official. And then the pandemic happened. I called her, I said, 'Tami, you want to move in with me? She said, 'Let's do it.' And that's kind of how we started our official relationship over three years ago," Tommy said.

What can folks expect at the celebrity boxing and comic con event coming to Grand Lake?

"It's going to be super fun. And we have some great headlining boxers; one of the stars from Black Panther and also one of the stars from Apocalypto. And then we have the Ninja Turtles. We've got a bunch of celebrities coming. So it's going to be really entertaining, really fun. And then when they're not boxing, we have the Comic Con where fans and the people coming to the event can get autographs, merch, posters. There's going to be like 300 vendors. It's a huge event. And I'm really excited to be bringing it to Grand Lake," Tami said.

Tami will be featured soon in a Swedish documentary called "Being Pippi." What was that experience like?

"So there is a Swedish film company called Pink Dolphin. And they flew in to film me this past June, for my movie screening at the Outsiders House Museum. And then to follow me around with my businesses and ShopPippi.com and Comic Cons. And so they followed me around for a week. And so it's really fun. And I got to see some of the teaser for it. And I'm, I'm so in love with it. I'm so thrilled for it to celebrate the 80 year legacy of the original books and also celebrate the millions of fans around the world," Tami said.
